A mother, Paula Brown, gave birth to a baby named Theo who weighed 12 pounds and 4.5 ounces, nearly twice the average weight of a newborn.
The baby’s size ѕᴜгргіѕed Paula and her husband Gareth, as well as the staff at Blackburn Birthing Center, who said it was the largest baby they’d seen in years. Despite the сһаɩɩeпɡіпɡ and tігіпɡ labor, Paula expressed her happiness with the end result.
While Theo is not the largest naturally delivered baby in the UK (that title goes to a baby named George), he falls far short of the world record set in 1879, with a baby weighing 22 pounds.
